As I near the end of my MA in Fine Art at City & Guilds, I am selling some of my recent studies as well as a small selection of archive works to help fund the final weeks of my studying, so I can focus on painting and give my MA show my all.
These studies are of some of the creatures which inhabit our landscapes in the UK which were brought here from places such as Asia and North America by the gentry and ruling classes, either for hunting or as a way to boast of wealth. To have exotic animals roaming your land, in particular in the 1700's, was considered to be a status symbol. I've been painting pheasants, muntjacs and the grey squirrel, all which are part of the UK landscape for this very reason.
